Strategic Plan Development Timeline
Overview
During the months of December 2009 and January 2010, members of the WVU Tech Cabinet, composed of Tech’s executive officers and the Faculty Assembly Chair, the Classified Staff Council Chair and the Student Government Association President, participated in a three-day strategic planning retreat facilitated by Mr. Tom Heywood, Managing Partner of Bowles Rice, LLP, of Charleston, West Virginia. The retreat launched WVU Tech’s five-year strategic planning process.
During this retreat, the cabinet brainstormed and discussed WVU Tech’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats through a SWOT analysis, engaged in a number of “visioning” exercises, and finally centered its discussion on those initiatives that, if well executed, would have the greatest impact on the overall success of WVU Tech.
In addition to producing a renewed sense of optimism on the part of the cabinet team, the retreat resulted in the development of 3 key working documents; a Vision for WVU Tech – 2015, a set of Core Values to guide our strategic plan, and 7 Strategic Initiatives. Once vetted and refined by members of the WVU Tech community, these documents will serve as the foundation for WVU Tech’s five-year strategic planning efforts.
On Tuesday, January 12, 2010, WVU Tech Cabinet members hosted a meeting for Tech’s faculty, staff, students and the community at large. During this meeting, Dr Scott Hurst reviewed the work done by the Cabinet in the strategic planning sessions.
A Vision for WVU Tech – 2015 and our set of Core Values will be posted following the roll-out meetings and discussions with members of WVU Tech’s Classified Staff, Faculty Assembly, and the Student Government Association.
